Under the Table of Contents tab select Options.

If you’ve based your style on Heading 1, it should already show up in the table of contents when you refresh it. To make sure it appears in the Table of Contents, it needs to be given the proper priority. In the Style based on dropdown menu, choose Heading 1.Give it the name Appendix Heading and click Modify.
